These are for people staying in and around the Klang Valley area, other parts of the country I am not familiar with.
Note : I will update this page if I manage to get information on other places.
LECA (Hydroton)
Wellgrow Horticulture stock these and a 50 Liter bag cost RM 70.00, you may get cheaper depend on how you hag.
Location of WellGRow horti is along Selangor Grean Lane Lot No 19.

STONES and PEBBLES
I go to Pebbles Concept House lot 48 along the same road, price range from RM 6 ~ 12 per bag of 20kg depending on grade. The RM 6.00 is the cheapest but it will do for Aquaponics. A 3 ft growbed that I use require 10 bags.

GUPPY TANKS
There are few Lot doing Aquarium supplies too,
Dragon Aquatic Supplier on Lot 62 is one of them.
Those blue tub that I use goes for RM 110.00 for the 3 ft (growbed) tank and RM 250.00 for the 4ft (fish) tank..
TILAPIA FINGERLING
If you are in Klang Valley, there is a place in Subang New Village where they do Tilapia. They sell each fingerling at RM 0.25.
Tilapia is a cheap fish not many place want to keep stock since they eat and require same attention as that of more expensive fish.
Below is their location
Some of the RM 0.25 Tilapia Fingerling, these cost more but after taking consideration of how far you need to travel to get a cheaper ones, this is a better option.

Affnan,
ReplyDeleteThis is one of your greatest posts!
Keep it up!
Thanks Mahfudz, how's you Aquaponics set doing ?
DeleteThis is a very useful post...Btw, can i ask what feed you use for your fish ? Any recommended brand or homemade recipe? :D
ReplyDeleteNothing special, during fingerling I use rice bran, small fish pellet (those reddish coloured, high protien) and once bigger some kitchen scrap, Aquaponics leafy plants and bigger fish pellet (the brownish colour).
DeleteNormally that's it, and no particular brand, I buy one 20 Kg bag about RM65.00 from Aquarium shop, these will last about 6 months.
Very useful and informative post for all the aquarium hobbyists. You have saved people from a big amount of online search and research. Very useful for your business.
